Objectives and Contextualisation

The main objective is to confront the student with current problems with the appropriate methodologies for the discipline


Learning Outcomes

  1. CA31 (Competence) Design a research or intervention plan in communication and language disorders appropriate to the objectives of the Master's degree dissertation.
  2. CA32 (Competence) Design systematic and scoping reviews to synthesize the best available scientific evidence.
  3. CA33 (Competence) Design presentations of the methodology, results and conclusions of the Master's degree dissertation suitable for specialised and non-specialised audiences.
  4. CA34 (Competence) Critically interpret the results of the most relevant assessment and exploration instruments and techniques for decision-making in speech therapy intervention.
  5. KA19 (Knowledge) Identify limitations and biases of theories in the context of communication and language disorders that are the subject of the Master's degree dissertation.
  6. SA32 (Skill) Differentiate between the results obtained from the application of speech therapy assessment instruments and techniques and analyse the need for additional or complementary examinations.
  7. SA33 (Skill) Write the report of the Master's degree dissertation in accordance with scientific standards.
  8. SA34 (Skill) Use documentary sources for the identification and selection of scientific publications relevant to the objectives of the Master's degree dissertation.

Content

The topics on which the TFM will deal are multiple, but the content of the work to be developed must be agreed with the tutor. The possible formats of TFM can be:

-Resolution of cases that require professional action in the area of evaluation and/or intervention.

-Empirical research work proposed by the student himself or related to the lines of work offered by the teaching staff of the master's degree.

-Theoretical research work proposed by the student himself or related to the lines of work offered by the teaching staff of the master's degree.

 It is based on the methodology of learning by inquiry, which enhances the work of skills required for a worker in a changing world, it is a research work in which a topic is raised on which research must be carried out to reach a conclusion.

Annotation: Within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.

The evaluation of the Master's Thesis is based on different learning outcomes:

 Evidence 1: Written evidence of the project (contributes 10% to the final grade).

 Evidence 2: Development of the Master's Thesis.  (contributes 20% to the final grade

 Evidence 3: Written evidence Final report (contributes 50% to the final grade).

 Evidence 4: Presentation and defence of the Master's Thesis (contributes 20% to the final grade).

The presentation and defence (EV4) is carried out before a tribunal.

In order to be evaluated in the EV4, students must have a grade equal to or greater than 5 out of 10 in evidence 1, 2 and 3. Otherwise, the maximum numerical grade in the academic record will be 4.5.

In order to pass the subject, it will be essential to have passed each of the evidences with a grade equal to or greater than 5. In those cases where evidence 1 and 2 have been passed, but evidence 3 has not been presented, the student will be considered as "not assessed".
