Content

Assessment Criteria

The final grade for the course is based on the combined results of clinical practice (PCL), case discussions/group tutorials, and the design of an innovation project in mental health nursing.

Final grade composition:

  • 80% of the final grade corresponds to clinical practice.

  • 10% corresponds to case discussions: clinical sessions/group tutorials.

  • 10% corresponds to the individual innovation project in mental health nursing.

In order to pass the course, students must pass the clinical practice component with a minimum grade of 5.

Clinical Practice (PCL):

  • Continuous and formative assessment: Conducted throughout the placement period. Around the midpoint, the responsible lecturer and the supervising nurse will summarize progress and discuss it with the student. This formative assessment will cover the level of goal achievement, strengths, and areas for improvement, along with relevant recommendations.

  • Final assessment: At the end of the placement, both the nurse and the lecturer will complete a written evaluation and provide feedback to the student.

Attendance is mandatory for all scheduled hours, on the assigned shift and timetable. Any justified absences must be recovered within the scheduled practice period, with prior authorization from the lecturer.

Case discussion sessions (3 sessions of 3 hours each):

Evaluation will consider the use of evidence-based reasoning, bibliographic support, clarity and coherence in oral and written expression, teamwork, and respect for diversity of ideas, individuals, and situations.

  • Final assessment: On the last day of clinical practice, students must submit the innovation project design in mental health nursing in digital format.

Attendance to case discussion sessions is compulsory. Students missing more than one session (out of 3) will be marked as Not Assessed.

The individual innovation project is mandatory. Failure to submit will impact the final grade.

Students mustcomplete the entire clinical practice period as scheduled, regardless of the assigned timetable.

Justified absences include:

Students who completed the entire practice period but did not pass through continuous assessment may sit a final synthesis exam.

Grading scale:

  • Fail: <5

  • Pass: 5–6.8

  • Good: 6.9–8.8

  • Excellent: ≥8.9

The same Not Assessed criteria as for continuous evaluation will apply.

This course does not include a single-assessment option.

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

This course allows the use of AI technologies as part of the work development, provided the final outcome reflects a meaningful contribution from the student in analysis and personal reflection. The student must clearly identify which parts were generated using such technology, specify the tools used, and include a critical reflection on how they influenced the process and the final result. Lack of transparency will be considered academic dishonesty and may result in grade penalties or, in serious cases, disciplinary action.
