A general tour of the main events and processes of change and continuity of the Humanity during the modern and contemporary eras is carried out with diverse thematic approaches of Historical Science (social, political, economic, gender, cultural, ideological) with special Emphasize everything that the archaeologist / archaeologist wants. A panorama of the history of the last centuries will be offered with a special look to archaeology topics. The archeology of the conflict will be especially analyzed.
General topics:
1. What is modern and contemporary history? Discuss about archaeology of the modern and contemporary world.
2. Definitions and sources for modern and contemporary history in archaeology. Sources and instruments.
3. Great stages of modern and contemporary history.
4. Economy and territory. Transformations of society.
5. History and proto-industrial and industrial archaeology.
6. Wars and conflicts (conflict archaeology).
7. The historical scars of society: exiles, post-wars societes, dictatorship...
8. New uses of the archaeology of the modern and contemporary world actually.

The methodology that will be used will include theoretical classes, case discussions, practical day trips and a research work group. All of this must provide useful and optimal resources and instruments so that the student acquires knowledge and skills related to historical research in modern and contemporary eras applied to archaeology.
Otherwise, tools developed by students from other years will also be used to exchange doubts and ask questions. It is intended to develop to the maximum the student's curiosity in the field from an important conceptual and analytical basis:

There will also be practical outings and activities at the Born site and at the Barcelona Zona Franca.

- The assessment activities submitted will be reassessed within the deadlines established by the teacher of the subject; Under no circumstances may an exercise be submitted for the first time during the reassessment period.
Only one "non-presented" student will be considered if he has given less than 2/3 parts of the evaluable evidence of the total of the subject. The maximum note that can be obtained in the recovery is 5 out of 10 (Approved).
* Copy of works or exams: In the event of a student committing any irregularity that may lead to a significant variation in the grade awarded to an assessment activity, the student will be given a zero for this activity, regardless of any disciplinary process that may take place. In the event of several
irregularities in assessment activities of the same subject, the student will be given a zero as the final grade for this subject.
* In the event that tests or exams cannot be taken onsite, they will be adapted to an online format made available through the UAB’s virtual tools (original weighting will be maintained). Homework, activities and class participation will be carried out through forums, wikis and/or
discussion on Teams, etc. Lecturers will ensure that students are able to access these virtual tools, or will offer them feasible alternatives.
Students will have the right to review the results of the tests carried out. The teaching staff will establish timely the mechanisms to do it.
The particular cases that will receive, as could not be otherwise, will be taken into account, an adequate response.
Single assessment
The students who so request may take a single assessment.
It will consist of three assessment activities that represent 50% (written exam of the whole subject), 25% (oral interview) and 25% (bibliographic work and state of the question to be handed in on the same day as the written exam and the oral interview).
The grade for the course will correspond to the sum of the three activities. If the grade is between 2 and 4.9, a make-up exam may be taken in order to pass the course.
