Contemporary Political Actors and Institutions is an introduction to the Catalan and Spanish political system. Analysis of political institutions, political parties and other emerging political actors in Catalonia and Spain.
Comparative approach to the diversity of political cultures, from the point of view of the typology of institutions, on a world scale.
It also introduces constant reference to comparative experience in administration, public management, and public policy, with case studies in different political and cultural contexts. Its main objective is that students know these theoretical and empirical references and that they know how to use them in interpreting the dynamics of operation and change in administrations and public policies.

Annotation: Within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.

Evaluation activities description:
A. Participatory Seminars, 40% in the final grade
B. Group work, 15% in the final grade
C. End of course work, 45% in the final grade
The detailed calendar with the content of the different sessions will be exposed on the day of presentation of the subject. It will also be posted on the Virtual Campus where students can find the detailed description of the exercises and practices, the various teaching materials and any information necessary for the proper monitoring of the subject. In the event of a change in the teaching modality for health reasons, the teaching staff will inform of the changes that will occur in the programming of the subject and in the teaching methodologies.
In order to be able to appear for the recovery of the subject, it will have been necessary to obtain a grade lower than 3.5 in the end-of-course work, which represents 45% of the subject.
Plagiarism
The student who performs any irregularity (copy, plagiarism, identity theft, etc.) that may lead to a significant variation in the grade of an act of evaluation, will be graded with 0 this act of evaluation. In case of more than one irregularity, the final grade of the subject will be 0.
According to the UAB's rules, the students have the right to follow the "unique evaluation". They must communicate to the professor that they want to follow it, during the first sessions of the course. If someone has already done any activity of evaluation, he/she has lost its right to follow the "unique evaluation"
The "unique evaluation" will consist in three evidencies:
1. Final examination over the whole syllabus of the subject. It will weight 45% of the final grade. To pass this subject, it is required to receive at least a grade of 5/10 in this examination.
2. The submission of an essay, which will be done following the lecturer's instruccions. It will weight 45% of the final grade. It will have to be delivered the day of the final examination.
3.The submission of two commentaries of two texts extracted from the lecturer's proposed readlings. They will weight 10% of the final grade.
In case of failing the grade, the student will have the opportunity to do again some of the activities of the "unique evalutaion", following these indications:
1. Only the student who has previously evaluated of at least 2/3 of the total ammount of the activities of this subject can participated in this re-trial.
2. The student will only be able to do again the final examination in the case he/she has failed it.
3. The essay will not be able to be done again.
4. The day of this re-trial examination, the student will have to submit 2 new comments related to the recommended readings, which will have been recommended by the lecturer.
