III. Some current current debates on the institutionalization of knowledge
8. Beyond ordinary knowledge: The sociology of "hidden" knowledge
9. Sociology as Art; Nisbet and other authors
The subject will be divided into three large blocks that will be explained in class:
I. An introduction to the sociology of knowledge
From master classes will be presented throughout the course, for permanent discussion, the key concepts of the work The social construction of reality: a treatise on sociology of knowledge. To this end, a reading calendar will be established at the beginning of the course.
II. Outside the classroom activities and book club
Each of the concepts highlighted in the theoretical classes will be accompanied by different exercises to deepen it. These activities, if possible, will be carried out in small groups and the calendar will be established during the first weeks of the course.
III. A group work
From the beginning of the course, work groups will be created oriented to the realization and presentation in class of a work in which, after choosing a concept of those worked on in block I and II, dynamics and strategies focused on visual thinking will be used, in addition to the sociological use of two concepts: The paradox and the metaphor. This work includes an oral presentation and will be carried out during the last weeks of the course.
Annotation: Within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.
