The evaluation will be based on the realization and completion of the essays, exercises or presentations assigned in each block. Knowledge of the subject matter and the ability to apply methods and concepts will be assessed. The final grade will be the weighted sum of the scores obtained in each block, according to the scale that will be explained at the beginning of the course. An "not assessed" will be obtained if one of the four blocks is not completed.
Part 1 (Núria Alturo, UB). Oral presentation of an essay: 40%; participation in the discussion of articles: 20%; research work proposal from a functional perspective: 40%.
Part 2 (Emili Boix, UB). Besides the regular exercises of the course (50%), students must choose one of the following exercises: (1) two linguistic biographies; (2) an interview with a mixed linguistic couple; or (3) a small research on sociolects from the media or lexicographical sources (50%).
Part 3 (David Paloma, UAB). Weekly exercises (5 weeks x 5%= 25%), oral presentation (35%), final written exercise (40%).
Part 4 (Salvador Comelles, UAB). Evaluation will be done through individual exercises at the end of each session (50%); a presentation in class of an analysis of variation in a literary work will be needed (50%).
The final grade will be obtained from the average of parts 1, 2, 3 and 4.
Reevaluation systems
Students must have been assessed in a set of activities whose weight is equivalent to a minimum of 2/3 of the total grade. Students with a final grade between 3,5 and 4,9 have the right to reevaluation.
General remarks
On carrying out each evaluation activity, lecturers will inform students (on Moodle) of the procedures to be followed for reviewing all grades awarded, and the date on which such a review will take place.
Studentswill obtain a Not assessed/Not submitted course grade unless they have submitted more than 30% of the assessment items.
In the event of a student committing any irregularitythat may lead to a significant variation in the grade awarded to an assessment activity, the student will be given a zero for this activity, regardless of any disciplinary process that may take place. In the event of several irregularities in assessmentactivities of the same subject, the student will be given a zero as the final grade for this subject.
In the event that tests or exams cannot be taken onsite, they will be adapted to an online format made available through the UAB’s virtual tools (original weighting will be maintained). Homework, activities and class participation will be carried out through forums, wikis and/or discussion on Teams, etc. Lecturers will ensure that students are able to access these virtual tools, or will offer them feasible alternatives.
