Objectives and Contextualisation

Acquérir les instruments théoriques et méthodologiques nécessaires pour apprendre à lire “en profondeur” un texte littéraire.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Analysing a contemporary fact and relating it to its historical background.
  2. Analysing the functioning of the French literary language and mastering the techniques to translate it.
  3. Applying the techniques and methods of literary commentary of current texts in French.
  4. Communicating orally and in written form with a C2 level of French.
  5. Effectively communicating and applying the argumentative and textual processes to formal and scientific texts.
  6. Effectively working in teams and respecting different opinions.
  7. Explaining the specific concepts of the French language, linguistics and literature.
  8. Identifying and interpreting the most relevant aspects of the contemporary artistic creation related with the French language, in its various manifestations.
  9. Identifying the main and secondary ideas and expressing them with linguistic correctness.
  10. Making a dissertation or a remark in French about issues related to literature and contemporary cultures in French language.
  11. Preparing an exhibition from the analysis of the current situation of a professional aspect related to the subject.
  12. Produce an individual work that specifies the work plan and timing of activities.
  13. Relating elements and factors involved in the development of scientific processes.
  14. Relating the literature in French with other creative and analytical discourses.
  15. Solving problems autonomously.
  16. Summarising acquired knowledge about the origin and transformations experienced in its several fields of study.

  1. Une création symbolique dans le langage :

  1. Espaces littéraires (Topoi).

  2. Temps littéraires (Kairoi).

  3. Personnages littéraires (Personae).

  4. Lexiques littéraires (Logoi).

  1. Un espace culturel de lecture.

  1. Les méthodologies :

  1. Appréhension valorative (le jugement).

  2. Appréhension historique (le contexte).

  3. Appréhension formelle (la surface).

  4. Appréhension figurative (la profondeur).

    5. Vers une lecture critique du texte littéraire         :

  1. Structure formelle.

  2. Structure symbolique.

  3. Structure mythémique.

Methodology

Basically, the course will consist of:
- master class with ICT support and group discussion;
- written and oral practice in French language;
- reading comprehension training;
- oral and written individual and group exercises;
- self-reliant activities;
- teacher-student and studen-student exchanges.

Assessment

 

The final evaluation will rely on a continuous assessment of:

         1. Examen de contenus

         2. Examen de lectures obligatoires.

         3. Travail individuel concernant un des textes indiqués dans la bibliographie.

         4. Travail individuel pratique.

Any student that would not present at least two thirds of the evaluable work will not have a right to evaluation.

Secon exam requires a previous evaluation of student activities equivalent to at least two thirds of the grade, and only students with a GPA over 3.5 have a right to it.

Oral expositions and any work related to daily teaching activity are excluded from a second exam.

Makeup tests will take the form of a synthesis exam.

Students will be informed of the proceedings and dates of all score reviews.

About plagiarism:

Complete or partial plagiarism of any of the exercises will make impossible for the student to pass the subject, and will result in a final global “0” grade. PLAGIARISM is the appropiation of one or more phrases from uncredited sources, that a student represents as one’s own original work, including phrases or passages taken verbatim from the Internet. It constitutes a serious offense.

In the event of a student committing any irregularity that may lead to a significant variation in the grade awarded to an assessment activity, the student will be given a zero for this activity, regardless of any disciplinary process that may take place. In the event of several irregularities in assessment activities of the same subject, the student will be given a zero as the final grade for this subject.

In the event that tests or exams cannot be taken onsite, they will be adapted to an online format made available through the UAB’s virtual tools (original weighting will be maintained). Homework, activities and class participation will be carried out through forums, wikis and/or discussion on Teams, etc. Lecturers will ensure that students are able to access these virtual tools, or will offer them feasible alternatives.
