Prerequisites
It's very important remember the knowledge learnt in the first-years subjects GIS (MIRAMON and / or ARCGIS).
Objectives and Contextualisation
This course introduces students to some of the concepts of geographic landscape.
The main objective is analysis and interpret a landscape from theories and methodologies of Landscape Catalogs of Catalonia.
Competences
- Geography and Spatial Planning
- Acting and intervening in the territory and its management, displaying the practical and experimental nature of geographical formations.
- Analysing and interpreting landscapes.
- Applying fieldwork methods and techniques in order to acquire a direct knowledge of the territory.
- Identifying the spatial relationships on different territorial levels through the relationships between nature and society through time dimension.
- Mastering the different forms of management and acquisition of geographic information as interpretation tools of territory, and maps and Earth observation imagery in particular.
- Students must be capable of communicating information, ideas, problems and solutions to both specialised and non-specialised audiences.
- Students must develop the necessary learning skills in order to undertake further training with a high degree of autonomy.
Learning Outcomes
- Carrying out oral presentations using an appropriate academic vocabulary and style.
- Classifying the different acquisition methods of geographical information as tools for landscape interpretation.
- Combining fieldwork methods and techniques in order to acquire a direct knowledge of the physical environment.

- Effectively communicating and applying the argumentative and textual processes to formal and scientific texts.
- Interpreting the changes to the landscape through spatial relationships in various territorial levels from the relations between nature and society.

Assessment
The final grade will be calculated as follows:
Theory (50%)
- Midterm exam 1: 10%
- Midterm exam 2: 10%
- Midterm exam 3: 10%
- Theoric schema: 20%
Practices
- Oral presentation (50%) includes Units landscape and natural, socioeconomic and cultural values and, also, applied proposals
Please note:
1) The exams are obligatory.
2) The minimum grade on assignments and exams to form average is 4.
3) The delivery of 50% of the assessment items (assignments / exercises / exams) excludes the possibility of obtaining the status of No avaluable as a final course grade.
4) VERY IMPORTANT: Total or partial plagiary of any of the exercises will automatically be considered “fail” (0) for the plagiarized item. Plagiary is copying one or more sentences from unidentified sources, presenting it as original work (THIS INCLUDES COPYING PHRASES OR FRAGMENTS FROM THE INTERNET AND ADDING THEM WITHOUT MODIFICATION TO A TEXT WHICH IS PRESENTED AS ORIGINAL). Plagiarism is a serious offense. Students must learn to respect the intellectual property of others, identifying any source they may use, and take responsibility for the originality and authenticity of the texts they produce.
5) The student of Grau has the right to a re-evaluation of the exams.
Procedure for Reviewing Grades Awarded
On carrying out each evaluation activity, lecturers will inform students (on Moodle and Wiki) of the procedures to be followed for reviewing all grades awarded, and the date on which such a review will take place.
Development of tests and exams
In the event that tests or exams cannot be taken onsite, they will be adapted to an online format made available through the UAB’s virtual tools (original weighting will be maintained). Homework,activities and class participation will be carried out through forums, wikis and/or discussion on Teams, etc. Lecturers will ensure that students are able to access these virtual tools, or will offer them feasible alternatives.
In the event of a student committing any irregularity that may lead to a significant variation in the grade awarded to an assessment activity, the student will be given a zero for this activity, regardless of any disciplinary process that may take place. In the event of several irregularities in assessment activities of the same subject, the student will be given a zero as the final grade for this subject.
