To enroll in the course External practices, you must have passed at least all first-year subjects
and a total number of 120 credits from the first three courses.
In addition, criteria such as the academic record, future labor interests or accredited knowledge
and competences may be taken into account to assign a PE.
In order to be able to enroll in the External Practices one must
have pre-enrollment through the website of the Faculty of Arts and Literature and have been admitted.
If the student has not pre-enrolled before the enrollment period, (s)he can do so in September by means of
an extension or modification of registration and to perform the PE in the second semester or,
if available, the following summer. In order to begin the External Internship, the student must be
enrolled in the subject and have signed the agreement (practices outside the UAB) or the specifications
(within the UAB).
The student will have an academic tutor of the University (the PE coordinator)
and a tutor of the collaborating entity or project, with professional experience, the necessary knowledge
and the availability to guide him/her in the correct accomplishment of the practices.
The PE coordinator will deal with the negotiation, formalization and management of agreements
that regulate external practices with institutions, bodies, entities and companies.
(S)he will also guide the student both in the process of assignment of place and during
the realization of the practices.
The responsible professor will present the student to his tutor within the institution in which (s)he has to
carry out the professional practices, and, once the internship has taken place, the teacher will evaluate
his performance according to the memory given and the tutor's report.
The hours ofcompletion of the PE must be compatible with
the academic, educational and representative activities and participation of the student in the University.
Likewise, the schedules will be established according to the characteristics of the practices and according
to the availability of the collaborating entity. In all external practices, including those held at the UAB,
it is a prerequisite for the student to sign an insurance and civil liability policy,
since the school insurance is not sufficient. The student will have to pay the supplementary policy contracted
by the UAB (approximate price: € 6).
The student enrolled in the course of External Internship who has demonstrated,
by obtaining the corresponding credits for the basic education subjects and the obligatory ones of second
and third course, having acquired the basic competences, (s)he must be able to express himself orally
and in writing.
Some companies or institutions reserve the possibility of administering a Catalan-language level test for
students wishing to do their internship.
The external practices are an optional subject of 6 ECTS of the Degree in Catalan Language and Literature.
The external placements of the Degree in Catalan Language and Literature are aimed at putting
the student in touch with the professional world. Since the professional activities for which they
prepare Catalan language and literature studies are many and diverse, and they have to do with both
the language and the literature, the external practices that students carry out are also diverse
and are chosen based on their future interests.
The PE course provides for a 135-hour stay in a company or
institution that develops an activity directly related to the subjects taught in
the Catalan Language and Literature degree.
The majority activities are the correction of oral and written texts
(in publishing companies and the media), the dynamization and the linguistic advice
(in computer companies, normalization services and language services of companies and corporations),
the collection of data for sociolinguistic works (normalization centers or companies), grammatical and
lexicographic work (in editorials and terminology centers), language teaching for foreigners
(in language centers) and cultural promotion and documentation tasks (in foundations,
cultural centers, libraries and theaters).
Following the experience put into practice in the degree in Catalan Philology,
the degree in Catalan Language and Literature has established the collaboration
for external practices, through the corresponding agreements, with companies
and institutions such as Televisió de Catalunya, Catalunya Ràdio, Departament d'Empresa i Coneixement
de la Generalitat, Fundació Carulla, TERMCAT, Vilaweb,
El 9 Nou, L'Avenç, PEN Català, el Consorci per a la Normalització Lingüística
and la Institució Pública Antoni Maria Alcover. Likewise, students will also
have the option of doing the services in internship stays (Library Service,
Language Service, etc.) and also in UAB Catalan language and literature research groups.
The management of external practices will be carried out by a professor from
the Department of Catalan Philology, who will be the coordinator of this subject.
Following the established schedule, (s)he will allocate the available places tothe students enrolled.
This professor will deal with the negotiation, the formalizationand the management of
the agreements that regulate the external practices with institutions, organisms, entities and
companies. (S)he will also guide the student both in the process of assignment of place and during
the realization of the practices. The responsible lecturer will contact the student with his /her
tutor within the institution in which he/she will carry out the professional practices. And, after
completing the internship, the teacher will evaluate the student's performance according to the report
given and the tutor's report which will be assessable following specific
guidelines that will be given eventually.

In the event that the student conducts any irregularity that can lead to a significant variation
of the qualification of an evaluation act, this evaluation act will be qualified with 0,
regardless of the disciplinary process that can be instructed. In case there are several
irregularities in the evaluation acts of the same subject, the final grade of this subject will be 0.
In the event that tests or exams cannot be taken onsite, they will be adapted to an online format made
available through the UAB’s virtual tools (original weighting will be maintained). Homework, activities
and class participation will be carried out through forums, wikis and/or discussion on Teams, etc. Lecturers
