Evaluation
Information about the assignments and the written exam:
Assignment 1. Handing an essay on the analysis of different territories transformed.
Assignment 2. Exercises dossier (different exercices proposed by the professor during the course will be presented configuring one single document).
Exam. Written exam in regard of the course material (basic and complementary bibliography, thematic files provided by the instructor on a weekly basis and digital resources provided during the course).
Important notes:
- Handing assignments 1 and 2 is required before the exam.
- Assistance to a minimum amount of 75% of the tuition sessions will be considered as a positive asset in regard with the final evaluation.
- The written essay (exam) has a very remarkable importance since is devoted to evaluate the performance of the student in regard with the thematic files and the digital resources provided by the instructor and it directly evaluates the knowledge effectively acquired by the student when considering the contents of the course. This is to say, a minimum qualification of '5' will be required in regard with succesfully pass the materia.
About the exercises:
The practical part of the subject is organized in the form of a series of practical exercises that will be carried out in groups and taking advantage of class time in order to minimize work time outside of class hours.
The operation of this part of the subject will be as follows:
- Student groups must be formed during the first week of class. A period of one more week will be considered to accept new groups in the case of students who have not been able to attend class during the first week.
From that moment on, new groups that must be formed due to students not attending class during the first two weeks will have to assume a penalty regarding the final practical grade of the subject.
This penalty will increase as the weeks go by without the group being formed.
- The practices are designed to be done during class hours. However, and considering possible force majeure problems, groups will have the entire school week to submit the practice.
Once the next practice has begun, it will no longer be possible to submit the previous practice if it has not been submitted and will be evaluated as 'not submitted'.
Therefore, it is not possible to submit practices outside the weekly deadline established for their preparation.
- In order to pass this practical part of the subject, all practices must be submitted without exception.
- The practical exercises of the subject are not recoverable.
Therefore, if the student does not present or fails the practical exercises, this grade will be final and there will be no recovery of this evaluation evidence.
Evaluation criteria
- Rigor and clarity in regard with the exposition of statements in regard with the concepts and materials considered for the evalaution of the materia.
- Capability for proposing examples directly related with the bibliography of the course and other additional materials proposed by the professor.
- Initiative in regard with completing the materials provided by the professor taking advantage of the own individual research.
The dates for exams and assignment submissions will be communicated to students well in advance and may not be modified on an individual basis (except in exceptional and duly justified cases). Erasmus students requesting to take an exam earlier must present the instructor with a written document from their home university justifying the request.
The date of the resit exam will be set by the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts and cannot be changed.
At the time of each assessment activity, the teaching staff will inform students (via Moodle) of the procedure and date for grade review.
The resit will consist of an improvement exercise based on the original assessment and built upon the required and extended bibliography, as well as other mandatory course materials covered during the semester.
In order to be eligible to submit the resit exercise, students must have previously submitted all required assessment evidence.
Students will receive a grade of "Not Assessable" if they have submitted less than 30% of the assessment activities. If a student fails to complete an assessment activity, the grade for that activity will be 0, it will not be eligible for resit, and it will be included in the weighted average.
If a student commits any irregularity that may significantly affectthe grade of an assessment activity, that activity will be graded with a 0, regardless of any disciplinary proceedings that may be initiated. If multiple irregularities are detected in the assessment activities of the same course, the final grade for the course will be 0.
"Copying" is defined as submitting a work that reproduces all or a substantial part of another student’s work. "Plagiarism" refers to presenting all or part of a text by another author as one’s own, without citing the source, whether in print or digital format. See UAB documentation on plagiarism at: http://wuster.uab.es/web_argumenta_obert/unit_20/sot_2_01.html
In this subject, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies is allowed as an integral part of the development of the work, provided that the final result reflects a significant contribution of the student in the analysis and personal reflection. The student must clearly identify which parts have been generated with this technology, specify the tools used and include a critical reflection on how these have influenced the process and the final result of the activity. The lack of transparency in the use of AI will be considered a lack of academic honesty and may lead to a penalty in the grade of the activity, or greater sanctions in serious cases.
This course does not include the option of a single assessment system.
