Prerequisites

Students have to follow the indications given by the centre. It is recommendable to have passed Pràcticum II.


Objectives and Contextualisation

The main aims are:

- To apply assessment and speech therapy techniques, under the supervision of a tutor, according to the characteristics of the people cared for at the centre.
 
- To work in a health, educational and social environment that fosters collaboration with other professionals and families of the people attended.
 
- To establish strategies to promote and educate about the social environment in which people attended at the centre live.

Learning Outcomes

  1. CM31 (Competence) Under the supervision of a tutor, apply speech therapy treatments based on the scientific evidence available in both individual and collective health, school and social environments, that adapt to the different evolutionary stages of the human being.
  2. CM34 (Competence) Establish a relationship with people without prejudice, respecting individual rights, freedom of opinion, values, and considering the sociocultural and psychological diversity of each individual.
  3. CM35 (Competence) Conduct oral interviews with patients and their caregivers, in which questions are raised both related to speech therapy symptoms and their impact on quality of life and family and social relationships.
  4. CM38 (Competence) Work in health, educational and social settings in collaboration with other professionals, forming multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary teams to improve the health and care of individuals, groups and the community.
  5. CM39 (Competence) Apply promotion and education strategies in the areas of human communication and non-verbal oral functions, including the assessment of their impact on the population.

Students can do the following activities:

*Observe individual speech therapy sessions

*Participate in an individual session under the supervision of the speech therapist.

*Take part in the meeting held in the centre

 

In this subject, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies is not allowed in any of its phases. Any work that includes AI-generated fragments will be considered a lack of academic honesty and may lead to a partial or total penalty in the grade of the activity, or higher penalties in serious cases.

 

Annotation: Within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.

The evaluation of the course takes into account the assessment of the tutor of the centre and the individual presentation of a written report presenting, in poster format, an analysis of the pathologies and the speech therapy interventions observed as well as, if possible, the intervention carried out by the student. In addition, a student's audiovisual presentation of the work placement centre may also be assessed. In order to make the weighted sum and obtain the final mark, it is necessary to have obtained a mark of 5.0 or higher in each of the learning evidences (centre and individual report).

 Each of the evidences of learning of the course will be returned in the following way: EV1 - To the moodle classroom, week 19 (1st and 2nd semester) and EV2 - To the moodle classroom, week 19 (1st and 2nd semester).

 

Students have to get a 5,0 or more in each aforementioned activitiy. This mark is compulsory to be able to get the final mark of the subject.  

We offer the opportunity to get up to one additional mark if the student submits a video relating their experience in the centre.

This subject does not consider single assessment.

 

No-evaluation: Student doesn’t do a minimum of 75 hours in the centre.

Re-evaluation: students who don’t obtain a pass mark for the subject, but get a mark of 4 or more, only have the option of the re-evaluation of the poster submitted.

 

The material used during the work placement is the responsibility of the work placement centre and its possible recording requires its authorisation. Any action or conduct that may be in breach of ethical principles or the code of ethics may result in the internship course not being passed.
