A fundamental characteristic of this seminar is that it constitutes a space for debate and exchange of visions on the fit of anthropologists in the field of cultural management in a broad sense, since we want to explore the contribution of anthropology to museology, collecting and service design. In fact, the world of cultural heritage is one of the classic fields of action of anthropology professionals. His work is mainly carried out in museums, interpretation centres and public administration, not to mention increasingly numerous private initiatives. However, cultural heritage is undergoing significant changes, which encourage the widening of the gaze on this sector and that its management is now more complex. New professionals break into the cultural management scene as an example of the overflow of traditional borders between disciplines.
The objective is to review and analyse theoretical and methodological proposals from an anthropological perspective, as well as their application in the field of heritage, cultural management and service design. Through a historical synthesis of museology, historical memory policies, of the principles of the anthropology of design, visits to different collections and/or heritage interpretation centres, case study, design of cultural projects, reading support, class participation and group work, students will acquire a basic knowledge of the professional practice of anthropologists in the field of heritage and cultural management. Resources that must be taken into account for possible career opportunities.
The purpose of the seminar is to transcend historically contingent disciplinary boundaries and become a laboratory where, in a safe environment, rehearse proposals for anthropological intervention. In this sense, we will try to collaborate with external professionals linked to heritage or design. In addition, special emphasis will be placed on the methodology of virtual ethnography, which can become the means to develop the proposal of sociocultural intervention that must constitute the final work of the subject.
The Seminar on Advanced Anthropological Theories and Research will be divided into three thematic blocks. The first one will be dedicated to make a first approach to the world of heritage (tangible and intangible) and its relationship with anthropology and anthropologists today.
The second part of the subject will deal with a global phenomenon closely linked to heritage: cultural tourism. Tourism has recently been recognized as its role in the framework of sustainable development.
Thirdly, there will be a methodological purpose: we will review the design of a cultural project. It is a way to provide resources for students as they can achieve the technical level necessary to overcome the final work of the subject.

Annotation: Within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.

This subject/module does not incorporate single assessment.
It is a seminar with a considerable number of credits and, therefore, presence and participation are mandatory. In this sense, the purpose is to subdivide the class group to work in small groups to carry out the exhibition proposal and maximize peer learning. Otherwise, working with atomized teams gives us more time for the intervention proposal that wants to be a professional project.
The evaluation will be structured in four blocks:
BLOCK 1 | Presentation and debate of mandatory readings | 20% | individual and group task [small work teams]
BLOCK 2 | Design and production of an exhibition exhibition | 25% | group task [whole class group]
BLOCK 3 | Proposal for sociocultural intervention* | 25% | group task [small work teams]
BLOCK 4 | Final exam | 30% | individual task
*A minimum of 3 follow-up tutorials will be carried out, which will be mandatory in order to validate the intervention proposal. Delivery date: May 2025
In the case that the student makes any irregularity that may lead to a significant variation in the grade of an evaluation act, this evaluation act will be graded with 0, regardless of the disciplinary process that can be instructed. In case of several irregularities in the evaluation acts of the same subject, the final grade of this subject will be 0.
The student will receive the qualification of "Not evaluable" provided that he has not delivered more than 30% of the evaluation activities.
REASSESSMENT
To participate in the recovery students must have been previously evaluated in a set of activities whose weight equals to a minimum of 2/3 parts of the total grade.
In order to have passed the subject it is necessary to have passed modules 2, 3 and 4 with a minimum grade of 5.
It will be, therefore, NOT EVALUATIVE that student who has not completed these tests throughout thesemester. That is why attendance and participation of students throughout the Seminarare requested.
If the student is evaluable, but does not pass modules 1 and 4, he / she will be able to recover them on the date established by the Academic Management and that will be informed in the Moodle of the subject with the presentation of reviews of readings and / or the passing of a written test. If block 3 is not exceeded, the proposal should be reformulated and presented again.
