Knowledge of basic grammatical and Spanish language concepts, as well as Spanish-American literary issues.

LITERATURE SECTION OBJECTIVES
It seeks to introduce students to Latin American literature, history and culture from the 20th century to the present day through dramatic literature and theater in different times and countries.
It will reflect, in turn, on the different historical periods, the most outstanding theoretical-epistemological transformation processes, as well as the theatrical movements that accompany them, their most relevant themes and genres.
For this, a series of coves are proposed in different times and authorships, which in turn allow us to visualize outstanding themes in the Spanish-American scene.

LITERATURE SECTION CONTENTS
1.- Philology and Theater Studies.
2.- The Spanish-American theater from its origins to 1950.
3.- Carlos Gorostiza, Ricardo Usigli and the formation of a national scene.
4.- Chilean dramaturgy and the problem of the woman writer. Isidora Aguirre.
5.- Virgilio Piñera and the Cuban theater. The Theater of the Absurd with “choteo”.
6.- The paths of realism and the theater of Roberto Cossa.
7.- Griselda Gambaro write with violence.
8.- The collective creation and the deterritorialization of scenic creation. Enrique Buenaventura, Arístides Vargas and the Yuyachkani group.
9.- The theater of memory and dramaturgies of the real. Lola Arias, Marianella Morena and Guillermo Calderón.
The modality of the classes will be on-site. The active participation of students will be encouraged through practical exercises, comments and discussion of mandatory readings.
The compulsory texts of the subject will be uploaded to the virtual campus more than 15 days in advance so that the students can arrive with them read to the classes.
The sessions are divided into two parts: it begins with the literature section and after a pause it continues with the language section.
Annotation: Within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.

LANGUAGE EVALUATION SECTION (45%):
An individual work on the topics treated in classes, as detailed at the beginning of the course.
LITERATURE EVALUATION SECTION (45%):
Monograph on a theme of Spanish-American theater from the 20th to the 21st century, as will be detailed on the first day of class.

Option 2 – A theater company, a stage director, an interpreter, a movement, a festival... – Previous tutoring
Participation and involvement in the subject (10%, 5% language + 5% literature): It will be considered participation in class and fulfilment of non avaluables activities.
SINGLE EVALUATION: It will consist of the delivery of a work of the language part and another of the literature part, under the same conditions mentioned above. Each one will be valued at 50% of the final mark.
General aspects
In order to pass the subject, the 2 works of the subject must be delivered (language section and literature section) within the established deadlines. Students who deliver only 1 work will be considered “not evaluated”.
In order to pass, the student must obtain a final grade equal to or greater than 5.
All the works submitted in the course must be original. Under no circumstances will the total or partial plagiarism of third-party materials published on any medium be admitted. Any submission of non-original material without properly indicating its origin will automatically result in a failure rating (0).
Spelling mistakes are penalized.
Students will be given a document detailing the format of presentation of the work.
