La arqueobotánica se centra en el estudio del entorno vegetal y de los usos de las plantas en el pasado. El objetivo de este módulo es que el estudiante sea capaz de analizar los restos de naturaleza vegetal procedentes de los yacimientos arqueológicos prehistóricos y gestionar correctamente su estudio. Se llevará a cabo una presentación de los debates teóricos y metodológicos actuales de la disciplina. Se abordarán de las estrategias de muestreo, los métodos de recuperación, la clasificación, la cuantificación y la interpretación de los restos arqueobotánicos. Si bien en el módulo se tratan todo tipo de resto vegetal, se centra principalmente en la identificación de los macrorestos vegetales (semillas, frutos, maderas, carbones) y polen. El modulo tiene un enfoque teórico-práctico en el que se tendrá en cuenta tanto las estrategias de campo como el trabajo de laboratorio, a nivel teórico y práctico.
