L'arqueobotànica es centra en l'estudi de l'entorn vegetal i dels usos de les plantes en el passat. L'objectiu d'aquest mòdul és que l'estudiant sigui capaç d'analitzar les restes de naturalesa vegetal procedents dels jaciments arqueològics i gestionar correctament el seu estudi. Es durà a terme una presentació dels debats teòrics i metodològics actuals de la disciplina. S'abordaran les estratègies de mostreig, els mètodes de recuperació, la classificació, la quantificació i la interpretació de les restes arqueobotàniques. Si bé en el mòdul es tracten tot tipus de resta vegetals, el curs es centra principalment en la identificació de les macrorestes vegetals (llavors, fruits, fustes, carbons) i el pol·len. El mòdul té un enfocament teorico-pràctic en què es tindran en compte tant les estratègies de camp com el treball de laboratori.

6. Noves tendències en arqueobotànica

Nota: es reservaran 15 minuts d'una classe, dins del calendari establert pel centre/titulació, per a la complementació per part de l'alumnat de les enquestes d'avaluació de l'actuació del professorat i d'avaluació de l'assignatura/mòdul.
