Objectives and Contextualisation

The objective of this module is to achieve a previous homogeneisation of the general knowledge of the european integration process, and about the aspects and elements that characterize the EU. By this module the students will obtain the basic and essential knowledge that will be the basis for their access and success to the modules of specialisation. This module is a reflection of one of the fundamental values of the master: the interdisciplinarity. For this reason this subject is considered as a mandatory module for all students.

  • Analyse, synthesise, organise and plan projects and assignments related to the area of study.
  • Continue the learning process, to a large extent autonomously
  • Seek out information in the scientific literature using appropriate channels, and use this information to formulate and contextualise a research topic.
  • Solve problems in new or little-known situations within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to the field of study.
  • Understand how EU legal and political measures are adopted, and how to interpret and apply them.
  • Understand how the different EU policies are drawn up and how they interrelate.

Methodology

The teaching of the subject will be mixed: the master classes will be virtual and the seminars / classroom practices or doubt sessions will be face-to-face and will also be offered in streaming.

The teaching methodology and the evaluation may undergo some modification depending on the restrictions to the attendance that the health authorities may impose

This module offers an introductory approach to the Europea Union. For this reason it will be developped bascally by theoretical courses but at the same time autonomous work will be required to the students. This module will be supplemented by specific seminars and conferences. Students will recive also personalized tutoring hours

Annotation: Within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.

Assessment

The assessement of tis module will be made from two different evaluations that will be carried out at different dates.

A first written exam will take place at the end of the five first modules of the program, and will consist on a written exam with personal reflection developing the subjects explained up to that date. This test will have a value of 45% of the final grade of the subject.

A second exam will correspond to a test and to a wirtten exam (2 questions), with personal reflection,  that will be conducted on the other topics of the program, with a value of another 45% of the final grade

The remaining 10% of the final grade will correspond to the class attendance, which is mandatory at least in 80% of the sessions, including seminars and conferences.
