Objectives and Contextualisation

The aim of the course is to introduce the basic concepts of economics and business management, first giving an overview of the company and its organization and thenanalyzing the main functional areas, financial, production and commercialization.

Content

0: Introduction

Basic concepts of economics.

 

1: The company and its organization.

  Business and markets

  internal organization

  Prices as coordinating mechanism.

 

2: Investment and financing business.

Interest rate.

Assessment of income.

Loans and mortgages.

Evaluation and selection of investment projects and funding (NPV, IRR).

 

Methodology

Classes of theory and practice, solving of problems, and discussion.

Annotation: Within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.

Assessment

Continuous assessment. The final grade will be obtained from the partial marks along with the participation / attendance (10%). Class attendance is mandatory (60% minimum). To pass the course you must take a minimum of 4 in each exam and a minimum of 5 in the final grade. Those who do not reach 
5 will be able to do a recovery exam where they will have to examine only the failed topics. The recovery exam is designed for not-passed students, not to upload grades.

To be eligible for the retake process, the student should have been previously evaluated in a set of activities equaling
at least two thirds of the final score of the course or module. Thus, the student will be graded as "No Avaluable" if the
weighthin of all conducted evaluation activities is less than 67% of the final score.
