Prerequisites

The enrolment to the Practicum Module is conditioned to previous admission and to a limited amount of slots (10). Selection criteria will be established and, prior to the enrolment, a personalized interview will take place to decide the admission of the selected students to the Practicum. Check out the course calendar in the Website of the UAB at the MUET.

Objectives and Contextualisation

The objective of the external practices is to put students in relation to specific professional environments. In addition, the Practicum offers the opportunity to open an investigation in the very emergent field of performing arts: the processes (creative, pedagogic, of production, etc.), which precede the result. Practices will develop in companies and institutions both of the public sector and of the private sector: theatrical infrastructures, television production companies, theatre production companies, dance and theatre companies, television, pedagogic centers, cultural and social associations, scenography workshops, etc.

Competences

  • Analyse phenomena in the performing arts on the basis of their potential categorisations and interrelations.
  • Assess the social dimension inherent in the performing arts.
  • Communicate and justify conclusions clearly and unambiguously to both specialised and non-specialised audiences.
  • Continue the learning process, to a large extent autonomously
  • Work in interdisciplinary teams in varying contexts.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Apply the knowledge acquired in a professional environment.
  2. Assess the social dimension inherent in the performing arts.
  3. Communicate and justify conclusions clearly and unambiguously to both specialised and non-specialised audiences.
  4. Continue the learning process, to a large extent autonomously
  5. Incorporate the professional dynamics of processes in the performing arts.
  6. Produce analysis texts to conceptualise practical processes related to professional contexts in the performing arts.
  7. Work in interdisciplinary teams in varying contexts.

Content

The objective of the external practices is to put students in relation to specific professional environments. In addition, the Practicum offers the opportunity to open an investigation in the very emergent field of performing arts: the processes (creative, pedagogic, of production, etc.), which precede the result. Practices will develop in companies and institutions both of the public sector and of the private sector: theatrical infrastructures, television production companies, theatre production companies, dance and theatre companies, television, pedagogic centers, cultural and social associations, scenography workshops, etc.

Institut del Teatre is responsible for establishing and signing the agreements with the institutions that take part in these practices.

Methodology

The task that will be carried out, firstly, will be the assistance and following of the processes connected to performing arts (artistic, pedagogic, of production, etc) which previously will have been facilitated by the tutor of the module, and practiced by the students and the tutor of the organization. This practice will be shaped as well by the nature of the institution that will be hosting the student.

The student, besides developing practical activities, will have tutor sessions and will develop a personal work of reflection and analysis about previously agreed concepts.

Annotation: Within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.

6_ Personal reflections about the experienced situation and the learning process (“Self-evaluation”).

7_ General conclusions.

ADDITIONAL REMARKS

1. At the time of each evaluation activity, the teacher will inform the students of the procedure and the date for reviewing the grades.

2. In the event of a student committing any irregularity that may lead to a significant variation in the grade awarded to an assessment activity, the student will be given a zero for this activity, regardless of any disciplinary process that may take place. In the event of several irregularities in assessment activities of the same subject, the student will be given a zero as the final grade for this subject.

3. In the event that tests or exams cannot be taken onsite, they will be adapted to an online format made available through the UAB’s virtual tools (original weighting will be maintained). Homework, activities and class participation will be carried out through forums, wikis and/or discussion on Teams, etc. Lecturers will ensure that students are able to access these virtual tools, or will offer them feasible alternatives.
