By obtaining a degree, students will be able to express themselves orally and in writing. For this reason, any spelling and expression errors that may be committed by the students will lead to a score decrease in the final grade.
Activities, practical sessions and papers submitted in the course must be original and under no circumstances will the total or partial plagiarism of third-party materials published on any medium be admitted. Any submission of non-original material without properly indicating its origin will automatically result in a failure rating (0).
It is also expected that students know the general rules of submission of an academic work. However, students could apply the specific rules that the teacher of the subject may indicate to them, if they deem it necessary.
At the end of the course students have to be able to:

1.2. Different approaches to linguistic variation: diatopic or geographic variation, social variation, situational variation, and diachronic or temporal variation
2. The diachronic variation
2.1. Language variation and language change
2.2. Characteristics and mechanisms of linguistic change. Grammaticalization and lexicalization.
2.3. Relationships of diachronic variation and dialect variation: the linguistic continuum
3. Sincronic variation: the case of prosody
3.1. Geographic, social and situational prosodic variation
3.2. The study of the prosodic variation in ELE
4. The pragmatic-discursive perspective
4.1. La notion of context: scope and perspectives. Oral discourse. Multimodality
4.2. Interpersonal communication. Regulation of the relationship among participants. Cooperation and conversational maxims. Relevance. Politeness. Gender identity. Intentionality. Manipulation and deception.
4.3. Discourse, pragmatics and ELE
The student must carry out a continuous monitoring of the subject.
In order to achieve the stated objectives, theoretical explanations will be combined by the teacher with the completion of exercises and with the discussion of certain aspects related to the contents, which entails the active participation of the students. The learning of this subject by the students is distributed as follows:

Annotation: Within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.

The professor will evaluate this subject on an ongoing basisby performing two activities, which will have a weight of 50%.
The evaluation of the subject will be carried out starting from the realization of two activities in which the following aspects will be evaluated:
In order to pass the subject all the activities must be done. The minimum admission grade required to pass each of the tests, considering it on the average, must be equal to or greater than 5 points. The final grade is obtained from the sum of the grade of the two activities with their respective percentage.
All evaluation activities are recoverable.
