4316204 French as a Foreign Language and Linguistic Diversity | OB | 0 | 2 |
There are no prerequisites to take this course. However, the collaborating entities can request more or less specific profiles (knowledge of languages, previous training ...) that will guide the selection by the entity or the choice by the student of the different possibilities.
The External Practices of the Official Master's Degree in French as a Foreign Language and Linguistic Diversity is a module of 6 ECTS, of a compulsory nature, which is studied during the second semester. The objective of these external internships, which are regulated by the corresponding agreements, is to put each student in contact with a company or institution that carries out tasks directly related to the subjects taught in the aforementioned official master's degree because they are familiar with the activities that are carried out.

The external internships will be carried out in companies and institutions of both the public and private sectors. Those students who are interested in learning about research related to the areas of knowledge of this master's degree will also have the possibility of doing these internships in a centre, group or research project. Each student will be assigned a tutor. Tutorial sessions will be scheduled to advise the student on the development of the internship. The tutor will set the student's work plan, monitor the placement and evaluate the activity carried out in accordance with the UAB's academic placement regulations. The student's task will be to observe and participate in the activities carried out by the host company/institution. They will also have to submit a written report with all the relevant information about the company/institution and keep a diary of the activities they carry out. The report must be a critical description of everything learnt during the placement and must follow the rules for writing academic papers.
Students can choose the orientation of the external practice. They can therefore propose other centres or companies that are not included in the list of degree offers. If the module coordinator approves the proposal, the agreement will be signed.
Below are some of the entities where the internships have been carried out in previous years (as a guide):
ALLIANCE FRANÇAISE (Granollers); Centre de Formació d'Adults Maria Rúbies; Labdoo.org; Iglobal Translators; RED LINK TO MEDIASL; Inbenta Professional Services SL; Institut Doctor Puigvert; Departament de Filologia Francesa i Romànica (UAB), etc.
The teaching will be distributed in y) classroom hours to the company, institution or host entity, ii) hours for the preparation of the final report, iii) hours for intermediate tutorials by the head of the course and, eventually, iv) theoretical sessions (e.g. course on occupational hazards; training for labor market insertion organized by the Faculty with the collaboration of the Employability Service...)
The hours dedicated to the company are approximately 125 hours. This is equivalent to apx. 42 days of 3h (morning or afternoon) or 25 days of 5h (intensive formula).
Students will have at least two tutoring sessions (face-to-face or virtual), during the period of the EP and at the end. The tutor will keep a record of these sessions in the form of minutes, which will be a key document in any complaint procedure.

In the event of a student committing any irregularity that may lead to a significant variation in the grade awarded to an assessment activity, the student will be given a zero for this activity, regardless of any disciplinary process that may take place. In the event of several irregularities in assessment activities of the same subject, the student will be given a zero as the final grade for this subject.
In the event that tests or exams cannot be taken onsite, they will be adapted to an online format made available through the UAB’s virtual tools (original weighting will be maintained). Homework, activities and class participation will be carried out through forums, wikis and/or discussion on Teams, etc. Lecturers will ensure that students are able to access these virtual tools, or will offer them feasible alternatives.
