Objectives and Contextualisation

The unique training objective is the elaboration of a research, synthesis or applied work, 
that has a relation with the subjects of the degree. The TFG will be carried out during the second semester of the fourth year. Since the students
enrolled in the TFG have already acquired the basic competencies,
they must be able to express themselves with correctness, both orally and in writing.
Expression mistakes that may be committed will be deducted from the overall score of the TFG subject. The TFG must be original and unpublished. Any total or partial plagiarism, in whatever support,
will be penalized automatically with a fail.

  • Developing critical thinking and reasoning and communicating them effectively both in your own and other languages.
  • Producing innovative and competitive proposals in research and professional activity.
  • Students must be capable of collecting and interpreting relevant data (usually within their area of study) in order to make statements that reflect social, scientific or ethical relevant issues.
  • Students must be capable of communicating information, ideas, problems and solutions to both specialised and non-specialised audiences.
  • Students must develop the necessary learning skills in order to undertake further training with a high degree of autonomy.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Apply appropriate and thoughtfully prescriptive principles of oral and written standard Catalan.
  2. Apply the tools and know consult the specific documentary sources.
  3. Carrying out an individual work that specifies the work plan and timing of activities.
  4. Develop an original work involving a contribution to the knowledge of Catalan language and literature, the application of this knowledge, to transfer to the professional environment or their social outreach.
  5. Dominate oral and written expression in Catalan.
  6. Empower reading, interpretation and critical analysis of literary texts and language
  7. Interpret texts in depth and provide arguments for critical analysis
  8. Properly apply the knowledge gained to data collection and management of documentary sources application to the study of Catalan language and literature.
  9. Search, select and manage information autonomously, both structured sources (databases, bibliographies, journals) and distributed information on the network.
  10. Working independently in the synchronic and diachronic study of Catalan language and literature.
  11. Written assignments and make effective oral presentations adapted to the appropriate register.

Content

The TFG consists of the written presentation and oral defense of a subject related to any of the 
subjects of the degree. The text of the TFG and its oral presentation will
allow to assess in a global and synthetic way the domain that the student has of the specific and
transversal competences associated with the degree. Always in accordance with the instructions of the tutor and the branch of knowledge in which the work
is inscribed, the TFG must have the sections that allow it to
articulate it appropriately: theoretical framework, state of the bibliographic question, characterization
of the object of study, criteria for selection and study
of the materials analyzed, analysis of the data studied, critical analysis of other specific investigations,
results of the investigation and conclusions that highlight the results obtained.
The oral defense of the work constitutes the second part of the TFG. The student enrolled in the TFG has a list of possible framework topics, which come from the subjects
of the obligatory and optional subjects of the Degree in
Catalan Language and Literature. Each student will have to make a prioritized proposal of three work
topics. For each of the three subjects (s)he will also propose
a couple of teachers (understanding the term as a generic, of course) to tutor it. The coordinator, taking
into account the proposals and in agreement with the student, will finish
assigning the subject and the professor responsible for the tutoring.

Methodology

The learning activities that the student has to do in this subject are distributed as follows:
										
											1. Guided activities: tutorials (15-18%). The TFG coordinator will organize a session with the whole group 
in order to guide students about the content and the development
of the work. During the month of November, the coordinator will make subject assignments and tutor
assignments to students, taking into account their proposals.
Once these assignments have been made, the tutor, in ad hoc programmed tutorials, will guide the student
about the elaboration of the previous scheme, the bibliography and the development of the subject.   2. Autonomous activities (80-85%). These activities will include the time spent by the student in the
elaboration of the work and in the preparation of the oral presentation.   3. Evaluation activities (2%). Oral presentation of work in front of three teachers.   Guidelines for assigning work for tutors   - The coordinator of the TFG will inform students, in a session at the beginning of the course, that they can
do the work on Catalan literature, Catalan or linguistic language. - The student will select three subjects and will propose two possible tutors for each of them. (S)he will
communicate it in writing to the coordinator of the TFG. Before the final assignment,
the coordinator will ensure that the number of jobs that a tutor leads is balanced with respect to the
rest of the teachers who can tutor them. To the extent that it is possible that the original proposal
of the student needs to be amended, always with his/her knowledge and approval. - If the student has no clear choice of subjects or the proposal of tutors, (s)he must contact the TFG
coordinator, who will guide him/her in a timely manner. - The coordinator of the subject will have to managethe awarding of the subjects and the tutors, in
accordance with the possibilities offered by the teaching team.

Rules for the preparation of the TFG
										
											- The cover of the TFG must contain: name and surname of the author, title of the work, name of the tutor, 
degree to which it belongs and course in which it is evaluated. - The TFG will have an extension of between 4,000 and 9,000 words (15 to 25 pages),
bibliography and annexes, in DINA4 format with 1.5 times, Times New Roman 12 p.   The organization of the epigraphs will follow the following convention:             - the main one in bold and capital letters;             - the following in bold and tiny;             - the following in italics and lowercase letters;             - the next in round. Between an epigraph and the next there must be a blank space. - The footnotes will be used for comment or excursus. The numbers of
the notes that go inside the text will be indicated in superscript numbers and
without parentheses; the footnotes will be single spaced and
in Times Times Roman 10p.   - The citations of more than four lines in the body of the article must be marked
with indentation, without quotes at the beginning or end, single spaced and in letter
type Times New Roman 11p. A blank line must appear at the beginning
and end of the citation.   - The citations of more than 10 lines can be inserted in the annexes.
In the text, this should be indicated as follows: see annex 1, see annex 2 ...   - The short quotations in the body of the text will be in quotes.   - The omission of texts from a quote will be indicated with the three ellipses
in brackets: [...].   - The student will have to follow a single model, previously agreed with the tutor,
to record the bibliographical citations and the final bibliography of the work.
It is recommended to follow the model of the journal Llengua & Literatura:
http: //publicacions.iec.cat/repository/pdf/00000080/00000029.pdf   - The delivery of a work that does not follow the norms specified in this
section can imply a penalty of 20% on the 70% of the qualification
corresponding to the presentation of the work.

Rules for the delivery of the TFG
The student must deliver three copies of the TFG: one to the tutor, one to the coordinator, and
a third one through the Moodle platform by means of the Urkund plagiarism detectiom tool.

Assessment

The evaluation of the work will always be individual and will consist of two parts:
										
											 
										
											1) The work tutor is responsible for the first part of the assessment, which represents 60% 
of the final grade.
The tutor must evaluate the final result of the work (50%),
in addition to the follow-up process of the formative activities (10%).
In exceptional cases, the tutor can present to the coordinator a final report on the follow-up
of the work.   2) A jury composed of three professors will evaluate the oral defense of the work,
which represents 40% of the final grade.
The TFG tutor can be part of this jury.
The student will have to make an oral presentation about the TFG that does not exceed
20 minutes. Once the defense has been made, the jury may ask the questions that it deems appropriate.
For the evaluation of this second part, the jury will have a rubric indicating the aspects that need to be
present for the evaluation of oral competences.   - The coordinator of the TFG will record the qualifications in the minutes.   - A TFG will be considered assessable if the student has delivered all the items exposed in the
"Calendar" section of this teaching guide.

- In order to pass the course, it will be necessary to obtain a minimum grade of 5.  
-In accordance with the protocol of the Facultat de Filosofia i Lletres, 
the awarding of 'Honors' will be determined "75% by the TFG grade",
and 25% by the the note of the cademic record of the last two Bachelor courses (3rd and 4th) ».
- The student may exceptionally ask thejury for a review of the assessment, if it is done within 
the established period and inaccordance with current regulations.  
- The TFG is not recoverable.
-
In the event of a student committing any irregularity that may lead to a significant variation in the grade awarded to an assessment activity, 
the student will be given a zero for this activity, regardless of any disciplinary process that may take place. In the event of several irregularities
in assessment activities of the same subject, the student will be given a zero as the final grade for this subject.

In the event that tests or exams cannot be taken onsite, they will be adapted to an online format made
available through the UAB's virtual tools (original weighting will be maintained).
Homework, activities and class participation will be carried out through forums, wikis and/or discussion on Teams, etc.
Lecturers will ensure that students are able to access these virtual tools, or will offer them feasible alternatives.
