This is a compulsory subject of the last year of the degree. The main objective is to work the transversal competences of the degree in an integrated way.
The student must defense a work about veterinary topics. The final degree project will be supervised by a tutor (professor of Veterinary's degree) who will advise and help with possible doubts and will evaluate the process. Once the work has finished, it must be defended in front of a TFG Assessment Commission (CATFG).
The TFG will be carried out by the student, independently and individually, under the supervision of a tutor. The TFG is related to any of the subjects in the veterinary field. Its content is based on the topic offer, renewed annually.
Four types of TFG are possible:
a) Bibliographical review: Summary and state of the art of a topic on any of the areas of knowledge of the degree. It will include the following sections:
- Title and author
- Objective (s) and presentation of the topic with the most relevant results
- Conclusions
- Bibliography
b) Experimental work: Research project on a topic related to one of the areas of knowledge of the degree. It will include the following sections:

- Objective (s) and presentation of the topic
- Social, educational or informative interest
- Bibliography
This typology also includes the edition of contents in Wikipedia: elaboration of an article in Wikipedia on a topic of an area of knowledge of the degree. This type of work must use a formal language that respects the style rules of Wikipedia, including the neutrality of the content and the citation of the sources of information and must include the following sections:
-Title and authorship
-Context and justification of the topic in Wikipedia
-Description of the contribution
-Bibliography
d) Service-learning work: participation in a project to solve a real social need related to one of the areas of knowledge of the degree. This modality includes the realization of a community service with a non-profit organization. It must include the following sections:
- Title and authorship
- Social need (description of the entity, detection of the need and objectives of the service)
- Theoretical context of the topic
- Description of the service performed
- Personal reflection
- Bibliography
The list of topics will be drawn up based on the proposals made by the teachers of the degree. Once approved by the commission for the TFG, the Faculty will make them public at the end of July through its website, along with the information on the application process.
The first application period for assigning topics will be in September, and the second in February. The application will be made online through the page sia.uab.cat where each registered student will record their preferences (maximum 5).
The professor in charge of the subject will assign the requested topics and the corresponding tutors taking into account the order of preferences of each student and using as a criterion, in case of conflicts, the academic record and the number of ECTS passed. Once the process has been completed, the list of assignations will be published on the Faculty website at the end of September and during the month of February (2nd period). There is also possible that a student proposes a topic to a specific teacher. If he/she accepts it, he/she must make the proposal to the professor in charge of the subject who will inform to the commission for the TFG. If it is finally accepted, it will be assigned directly to the student who made the proposal.

The TFG methodology include sessions of supervision, autonomous work and evaluation activities.
The person in charge of the subject will hold an informative session with all the students (via Teams) to explain how the course works. During the first semester, a Moodle course with three modules: information sources, copyrights and Mendeley will be programmed. Once completed the period enabled to do the course a session via Teams of resolution of doubts will be programmed.
The tutor will keep four meetings with the student:
- Preliminar meeting: Once the student has the assigned topic, he will request a meeting with the tutor in order to define objectives, methodology, bibliography, meeting schedule etc.
- Two follow-up meetings (initial meeting and progress meeting), to discuss the progress of work's student.
- A final meeting in which the tutor will give the latest indications for the presentation of the TFG.
In all kinds of TFG, the material to be evaluated is:
1- Written report: Include all the sections, in addition to the tables and / or figures. It is not necessary to print it. It will have a maximum of 15 pages (including tables, figures and bibliography) and at least 3000-4000 words. It will be evaluated by the tutor and the CATFG.
2- All the material which allows the tutor to evaluate student's work during the tutorials.
3- Poster in English: It will be evaluated by CATFG. The dimensions and type of printing required to make the presentation will be specified in advance. It will not be necessary to print it and it will be displayed on the screen in pdf format.
The dates of deposit of the documents and defense of the TFG will be published on the Faculty website.
The proposed teaching methodology may experience some modifications depending on the restrictions to face-to-face activities enformed by health authorities.
Annotation: Within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.

The final grade depends on the evaluation made by the tutor (50% of the final grade) and by the CATFG (the remaining 50%).
The tutors will have a follow-up guide and an evaluation form that will contain guidelines on indicators to evaluate, number of follow-up actions, evaluation of intermediate documents and its updating, final report evaluation or others, in order to obtain an evaluation as clear and homogeneous as possible.
After each meeting, the tutor will have to complete the corresponding evaluation form. In the final grade of the tutor (50% of the final grade), the initial meeting will worth 10%, progress meeting 25% and final meeting, 25% of the final grade. The remaining 40% will be given by the evaluation made by the tutor of the final report deposited. Overcoming the Moodle Course will be included in the evaluation form of the initial meeting. The transversal competences assessed by the tutor will be: CT1, CT4, CT5, CT6, CT7 and CT8.
On the day of TFG's defense, the poster will be screened. The student will make a brief oral presentation of the topic (maximum 5 minutes) and answer the questions asked by the members of the TFG Assessment Commission. Each member of the TFG Assessment Commission will evaluate the written work (30% weight), the poster in English (30% weight), the oral presentation (10% weight) and the defense of the work (weight of 30 %). The final grade of the committee will be the average of the individual assessments of its members. The evaluation of the commission will worth 50% of the final grade. The transversal competences evaluated by the CATFG will be: CT1, CT4, CT5, CT6, CT7 and CT8.
It will be considered not assessable, the student who is not able to report evidences for the evaluation.
