To apply for the program, the student is required to have passed the first year of the degree and at least 120 credits from the first three years.
In addition, the student will have to be enrolled at the time he/she starts the stay and have paid the fees of the complementary insurance, as informed in the tax regulations.
The stay can not be started without having signed the appropriate agreement. In case that, for some reason, the period of stay is prolonged, it will be necessary to extend it within the current academic year.
The objectives of the course are:
. To promote the integration of the student in the corporate world or in a research group, either in a public or private institution.
. To know and to apply techniques in the area of Environmental Biology that are typically used in a particular professional field or in specific research projects.
. To prepare a report on the practice internship in an autonomous manner.
The contents of this subject is variable as it will depend on the specific entity or institution in which the internship is carried out.
However, in all cases, the contents will always have a close relationship with Environmental Biology, be it in a company or in a research group.
There are the following two types of positions:
Modality A: Internal positions campus UAB
Modality B: External positions
Students will have an academic tutor, a member of the teaching team of the course, and a tutor at the entity where they make the stay.

This is an elective course that should be taken preferably in the fourth year or in summer after having finalized the scheduled activities of the third year or fourth year of the degree.
The stay can be made in one of three possible periods (summer, first semester and second semester). The duration of each period will be made public every academic year on the website of the Faculty of Biosciences, section “Work Placement in Companies or Institutions”.
The student will find all the information related to this course and how to formalize the request for a position, and all the procedures arising from the award of a position, on the Faculty website, in the section "Work Placement in Companies or Institutions".
Each academic year, the Faculty of Biosciences will organize a general informative session for third and fourth year students of this Faculty’s degrees.
Annotation: Within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.

The course assessment will include the following items:
-Final written report prepared by the student (weight in the final score: 40%).
-Report on the student’s performance issued by the tutor (weight in the final score: 60%). The tutor has the power over the student's assessment, which can only be modified in cases where strong evidence of its impartiality is presented.
The students must write a final report of their internship and deliver it electronically to the member of the teaching team assigned as evaluator, no later than 15 days after the end of the stay. In exceptional cases, which must be authorized by the course coordinator, this period can be extended up to a maximum of 30 days.
The details on the preparation, extension and contents of the report, and the assesment criteria, are published in the Regulations of the subject (“Normativa”), on the Faculty of Biosciences website, section "Work Placement in Companies or Institutions". The correct use of English has a value of a maximum of 0.5 additional points within the assessment of the final report.
Total or partial plagiarism in the development of the report will result in a 0 in this part.
In order for the student to be assessed, the course coordinator must receive the tutor's assessment report and the written report prepared by the student. If any of these requirements is not met, the student's grade will be "Not evaluated".
This subject does not include the single assessment system.
The contents of the Bibliography list may vary depending on the specific work that each student performs during his/her practice internship and what he/she may need to prepare the final written report.
