Objectives and Contextualisation

 

The subject Lengua francesa II is intended to deepen the student's instrumental French language learning through the production of documents of different types in advanced French language and understanding of authentic documents of different types in the French language current The contents discussed in this course are also aimed at providing students with the necessary tools for accessing the contents of literary and cultural language subjects planned in later courses.

Linguistic, sociolinguistic and pragmatic skills will be worked on based on the following communicative functions such as explaining an event or news, reacting to a complaint, a warning, conducting an interview, qualifying an opinion, explaining a problem, giving instructions, identifying criteria in an argument, etc. Oral and written productions will be evaluated based on the objectives of level C1 of the MECRL.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Apply appropriate and thoughtfully prescriptive principles of oral and written standard French.
  2. Be familiar with oral and written French language at the level of the simple sentence (grammatical foundations and contrastive elements) (B1).
  3. Be familiar with the basic rules of spelling and morphosyntax (B1).
  4. Correctly Produce texts of distinct typology applying their linguistic and discursive specificities at an independent-user level (B2).
  5. Correctly produce texts of distinct types, applying their linguistic and discursive specificities at a proficient-user level (C1).
  6. Correctly pronounce in French language at a proficient-user level (C1).
  7. Critically taking part in classroom oral debates and using the discipline's specific vocabulary at a proficient-user level (C1).
  8. Distinguish the distinct levels of linguistic analysis and establish relationships between them.
  9. Express, orally and in writing, opinions or content in French with precision and clarity at a proficient-user level (C1).
  10. Know how to interpret the meaning of a text in French at a higher-proficient-user level (C1).
  11. Know how to interpret the meaning of a text in French at an independent-user level (B2).

Content

This subject aims to develop a series of not only linguistic, but also pragmatic, textual and socio-cultural competences as well as an aptitude to learn to learn. The development of these competences will be done through written and oral practice of the language that encompasses all its aspects (communicative, grammatical, lexical ...).

Methodology

The subject of Llengua francesa II is of an instrumental and essentially practical nature. The emphasis in the formative activities will be put in the active participation of the alumnado to be able to reach the competitions anticipated in this educational guide.
In general terms, the learning will be directed through the following set of techniques and actions:
- Master class with ICT support, analysis of linguistic phenomena and collective discussion
- Reading and analysis of written texts
- Doing individual and group writing exercises and activities (readings, writings ...)
- Listening / visualization and analysis of oral / audiovisual documents
- Doing individual and group speaking exercises: discussions, dialogues, exhibitions on a specific topic, role-playing games
- Grammar, written / oral and written / oral comprehension tests
- Autonomous activities: exercises, readings, listening, writing, preparation of tests, searching for information on the Internet ...
It will work with authentic documents in French.

Annotation: Within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.

Assessment

Continuous assessment will include both the various tests and the works / exercises / comments delivered throughout the semester and presented orally in class. It will include two partial exams (one oral and one written), and two final synthesis exams (one oral, one written).
At the time of carrying out each evaluation activity, the students will be informed of the procedure and date of review of the qualifications.

"UNIQUE ASSESSMENT":

- Final oral exam (30%)

.- Final written exam (30%)

- Oral and written work (40%)

RECUPERACION:

To participate in the recovery, the students must have been previously evaluated in a set of activities which weight equals to a minimum of 2/3 parts of the total grade (CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT) or delivered all the tasks indicated (UNIQUE ASSESSMENT).
Only the students who, having failed, have at least a final average grade of 3.5, are entitled to the "recuperación". The oral presentations and the tasks related to the daily teaching activity are excluded from the "recuperación". The evaluation will consist of a synthesis exam of the assessing part of the "recuperación". The same assessment method as continuous assessment will be used for UNIQUE ASSESSMENT.

NOT ASSESSED: 
Students will obtain a Not assessed/Not submitted course grade unless they have submitted more than 1/3 of the assessment items.

PLAGIARISM:

In the event of a student committing any irregularity that may lead to a significant variation in the grade awarded to an assessment activity, the student will be given a zero for this activity, regardless of any disciplinary process that may take place. In the event of several irregularities in assessment activities of the same subject, the student will be given a zero as the final grade for this subject.

PARTICULAR CASES:

French-speaker students mustmeet the same assessment conditions as other students. The responsibility of the follow-up of the educational and evaluation activities falls exclusively to the student.
