Content
The Professional Internships course aims to promote the comprehensive training of students through the practical application of the knowledge acquired during the degree, facilitating direct contact and incorporation into the professional world with a minimum of experience. They represent a decisive opportunity for the personal development and professional future of the students. The internships are designed so that students gain professional experience in real situations. They are activities that are carried out in companies, institutions and organisations with the aim of enriching and complementing their university training, while at the same time providing them with a deeper knowledge of the skills they will need once they have graduated. The student therefore carries out a supervised activity in companies or institutions related to the professional objectives of the degree and the objectives of the institution/company. The student is introduced to the business or institutional dynamics, discovering the internal workings of the organisation, collaborating in the design, development and implementation of the project. They work on the design, implementation and evaluation of projects, participate in the organisation of academic events, take part in the creation of databases and promote research activities, among other tasks to be carried out in the fields of history, economics and politics.
The internship is an optional course of 12 ECTS credits with the following distribution of hours: 280 hours at the internship site + 20 hours of training at the UAB, complementary activities, etc. according to the needs of the internship.
Methodology
The characteristics and methodology of the independent work depend on the centre where the student carries out the professional internship.
The tutoring is based on explaining what the internship consists of and monitoring the course.
Note: 15 minutes of a class will be set aside, within the timetable established by the school/university, for students to complete the assessment questionnaires on the performance of the teaching staff and the assessment of the subject/module.
Annotation: Within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.
Assessment
External tutoring report: 60%.
Internal tutoring report: 10%.
Internship report: 30%.
External work placements will be supervised by the lecturer in charge. At the end of the internship period, the lecturer will evaluate the student's performance on the basis of the report submitted (according to the established model) and the report of the person tutoring the student (which also follows a model).
Furthermore, it should be taken into account:
A "Not assessable" mark will be given to students who have not managed to complete 10% of the face-to-face hours foreseen in the agreement.
A "Fail" will be awarded when the student has exceeded 10% of attendance, but has not completed the hours foreseen in the agreement or is assessed negatively.
The qualification of Honours is not awarded due to the optional nature of this qualification and the heterogeneity of this subject in the different degrees of the Faculty.
The External Practicals course cannot be recovered in the event that the student obtains the grade of Fail.
In the event that the student carries out any irregularity that may lead to a significant variation in the grade of an assessment report, this assessment report will be graded as 0, regardless of the disciplinary process that may be carried out. If there are several irregularities in the assessment acts of the same subject, the final mark for this subject will be 0.
