Following article 134 of the academic normative of the UAB, students must fulfil two requirements to enrol in the Degree Project:
Furthermore, the FEiE recommends the enrolment in this subject only for students in their actual last year of studies, i.e., who will be able to graduate at the end of the academic year.
Following the Royal Decrees establishing the main lines in the development of University Studies (RD 1393/2007 and RD 861/2010) the Degree Project must be oriented to the evaluation of the competences associated to the Degree.
The Degree Project constitutes the culmination of the learning process for undergraduate students. It allows them to prove that they can effectively integrate added knowledge and skills to carry out a Project/Dissertation with a professional orientation within the scope of Business and IT.
The Degree Project must constitute an original individual work, produced under the supervision of a mentor, applying the competences attained by the student throughout his/her undergraduate studies. Considering the nature of the Degree, applied dissertations are recommended. The research and proposal of innovative solutions to real (business) problems are strongly suggested, particularly those related to business strategies in which IT is part of the proposed solution.
During September, the degree coordinator will offer a session to provide a general description of the assignment process for both the supervisor and topic(s) of the Degree Project(DP), as well as other aspects of interest regarding the development of this course. Details will also be posted online at the Faculty website.
Once the students have gone through the assignment process, they should contact their respective supervisors, to agree on the details of a first meeting. Supervision should entail a minimum of four meetings during the academic year:
During the first semester, the students must follow the on-line course "Tools and Resources for DP Writing" (if it has not been taken before). It is desirable to do it at the beginning of the semester, as it provides basic tools for the correct development of research and accurate writing of the DP.
Both Catalan, Spanish and English languages can be used to write the DP.

Annotation: Within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.

In order to be able to submit the Degree Project (DP), and therefore to have the it assessed, the student must be in possession of the certificate of the course “Tools and Resources for DP Writing” on the date indicated in the DP activities calendar.
Once obtained, the actual assessment of the Degree Project is twofold.
In a first step, the Final Project will be appraised by the student’s supervisor based on both the written report produced by the student (80%) and its oral defense (20%).
Since the supervisor should assess both the final written report and the performance of the student during the course, his/her evaluation will have two components: the assessment of an intermediate delivery (15%) and that of the final report (65%). The mark of this last report should be based both on formal aspects of the document (its formal structure, references, writting skills) and its content, following the assessment criteria established in the Faculty common evaluation rubric.
Thus, considering the whole year process, the supervisor will hand out a short report on the quality of the written dissertation and the student's oral defense, as well as a proposed grade ranging from 0 to 10 following the above-mentioned criteria.
For students having been awarded a supervisor’s mark of less than 7, the second step of the assessment will not apply. The supervisor’s awarded mark will constitute their final grade for the DP.
The second step is thus reserved to students having obtained a supervisor’s mark equal or higher than 7, and is non-compulsory. It involves the design of a poster summarizing the student’s Final Project, followed by its presentation in front of an evaluation panel. The panel will award the student’s final grade for the FYP, which should fall in the 7-10 range. Should a student choose not to participate in this second step, his/her final grade will be fixed at 7, regardless ofthe mark proposed by the student’s supervisor at the end of the first step of the assessment process.
Furthermore, it should be noted that the methodology explained above and designed to guide the students during the process of elaboration of the Degree Project is compulsory. Therefore, if a student fails to follow it, and his/her supervisor does not have enough evidences to ensure authorship of the submitted Final Project, the advisor will not evaluate it. This entails a final mark of “non-evaluable”, thus not passing the course.
Irregularities in evaluation activities
Despite other disciplinary measures deemed appropriate, and in accordance with current academic regulations, "whenever a student makes any irregularity that could lead to a significant variation in the grade of an evaluation activity, it will be graded with a 0, regardless of the disciplinary process that can be instructed. In case of occurrence of various irregularities in the evaluation of the same subject, the final grade of this subject will be 0". Section 10 of Article 116. Results of the evaluation.
