Prerequisites
Those indicated by the regulations of the degree and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in relation to the External Practices: general requirement established by the Permanent Regime of the UAB (section c), according to which "to be able to enroll a fourth-year subject, students must have passed at least all first-year courses and a total of 120 credits from the first three years of the Degree".
For the course Pràctiques Externes/Prácticas Externas students must preregister according to a calendar that is made public every year. The calendar can be consulted at the following link:

Failure to preregister results in the impossibility to register for the course Pràctiques Externes/Prácticas Externas. A student will only be assigned an internship position if they have preregistered within the established deadline.

International students taking an International Track offered at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities must register for this internship, which is to be carried out within the SO-CLOSE project (https://so-close.eu/about-the-project/), led by Dr Javier Rodrigo.
For students whose mother tongue is not English a level of C1 (Common European Framework of Reference) is required.

The External Practices are the best tool for students to develop their educational background acquired during their studies in a professional field, in order to obtain experience in the field in which they want to find a job in the future.

The training objectives of the internship are:
- To allow students to complete their professional abilities in a real work position.
- To complete students’ intellectual training through contact with work reality.
- To enhance students’ competence to face personal and professional challenges.
- To apply the knowledge acquired in their educational path.

Content
There is not specific contents because they will depend on the center or the type of work in charge of each student. The student will work during 120 hours (see Assessment).
The offer of places of practices is very diverse, taking into account the diversity of Humanities students. At the same time, the student can make his/her own proposals.

THIS SECTION APPLIES TO STUDENTS REGISTERED IN AN INTERNATIONAL TRACK ONLY
International students enroled in an International Track will participate in the tasks carried out within the different Work Packages included in the SO-CLOSE project (https://so-close.eu/about-the-project/), led by Dr Javier Rodrigo.
This project aims at contributing social cohesion and fight refugee marginalization and exclusion by bringing together similar life stories with the help of the mediation of innovative and artistic tools. History, sociology, cultural studies, art and computer science intersect in this project: some of its goals involve designing educational and cultural tools such as interactive cookbooks, documentaries and exhibitions based on personal memories and storytelling, the creation of Artificial Intelligence-powered chatbots, as well as the creation of the Memory Center, an on-line content aggregator and services platform.
Methodology
The characteristics and methodology of autonomous work will depend on the center where the student will carry out their internship.
The tutorial is based on explaining what an internship is and on monitoring the whole process.
In the event that the internship cannot be carried out on site, they will be adapted to an online format.

International students registered in an International Track will carry out a placement of 150 hours in duration. The student's role and tasks in the research group are specified in the training project, which the student must know before starting the semester.
Students will be supervised by an academic tutor and an external tutor.
• External tutors belong to the host research project. They receive the students, assign them work as set out in the training project, monitor their progress, and submit the
corresponding assessment reports.
• Academic tutors are university lecturers. They oversee students' progress to make sure that the subject's objectives are met and they submit a final assessment report.
The placement with the collaborating organization must last 150 hours. The calendar and timetable must be compatible with the students' university activities and are tailored to each student, in line with the nature of the
placement. At the end of the placement, the students write a report, for which the format and submission deadlines are set by the coordinator. Samples of the kind of report that is expected are made available to the students.
Annotation: Within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.

Assessment
There is no single assessment in this course.
The evaluation is made from four elements:
1. The report of the practice tutor, which is based on a model developed by the University where the different aptitudes and attitudes of the student are valued. It is the part with the highest weight in the overall evaluation of PE.
2. The student's report describing what his/her practices consisted of, the results and how has been his/her experience. This report is delivered to the PE teacher.
3. At the end of the academic year, it will be necessary to make a public oral presentation in a brief academic session with other students.
It is the final point in the PE and the opportunity to share the experiences lived and what has been talked about during the tutorials.
4. As part of the training activities specified in the assessment for the Pràctiques Externes/Prácticas Externas, students must fulfil these two requirements:
-have attended at least one 1 of the group professional orientation courses organised by the Servei d’Ocupabilitat and show proof of attendance by adjoining the certificate to the Memòria de Pràctiques.
-have taken the questionnaire Professional Competences Test offered by the Servei d’Ocupabilitat de la UAB. The result of the test can be downloaded and attached to the Memòria de Pràctiques.
No Matrícula d’Honor grade is awarded due to the optional nature of this grade and the heterogeneity of this subject in the different degrees taught in the Faculty.
The course Pràctiques Externes cannot be reassessed in the event that thestudent fails.
At the end of the placement, the coordinator assesses it on the basis of the reports from the academic tutor (40% of the final mark), the placement report submitted by the student and the report from the external tutor (60% of the final mark).
Unjustified non-fulfilment, on the part of students, of the terms of the agreement signed by them is cause for rescinding the agreement and assigning a "Fail" grade (0) for the subject.
At the end of the placement the external tutor assesses the degree of satisfaction with the student’s internship through a form made available by the coordinator. This report must contain the total number of hours contributed by the student and must assess the student's acquisition of the general, specific, and transferable competences set out in the training project.
Students have to submit their placement report to their academic tutor within a maximum of ten days from the end of the placement. They can do this by email, requesting confirmation of receipt.
Students must not disclose any confidential information from the collaborating organization that they may acquire as a result of engaging in the placement. The length, format and content of the report are specified by the coordinator before the placement starts.
Academic tutors send their assessment reports to the coordinator after having received the reports from the external tutors and the students.
