Objectives and Contextualisation

Objectives

1. Promote a critical analysis of the creation, implementation and interpretation of Law from a gender perspective.

2. Identify factors that obstruct real and effective equality, from an intersectional gender perspective, in different arms of the legal system.

3. Conduct case studies on the alleged neutrality of Law across Spanish and European jurisprudence.

Competences

  • Express correctly and in a non-sexist or homophobic manner both orally and in writing.
  • Formulate, argue and discuss your own and others' ideas in a respectful, critical and reasoned way.
  • Identify the basic legal concepts, legislation and jurisprudence related to the rights of the collectives affected by gender inequalities. 
  • Proposing corrective actions of the violences tha ttrigger the types and degrees of discrimination on the basis of sex, gender and sexual orientation.
  • Students can apply the knowledge to their own work or vocation in a professional manner and have the powers generally demonstrated by preparing and defending arguments and solving problems within their area of study.
  • Students must be capable of communicating information, ideas, problems and solutions to both specialised and non-specialised audiences.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Identify and propose actions on direct, indirect or multiple discriminations based on sex, gender and sexual orientation.
  2. Identify the problems linked to equality between men and women in legislation and jurisprudence.
  3. Make an inclusive use of language.
  4. Master the basic concepts of international legislation on women's rights and anti-discrimination law.
  5. Prepare an organized and correct speech, orally and in writing, in the corresponding language.
  6. Propose legal solutions to the problems of discrimination against women and the LGTBI collective.
  7. Students can apply the knowledge to their own work or vocation in a professional manner and have the powers generally demonstrated by preparing and defending arguments and solving problems within their area of study.
  8. Students must be capable of communicating information, ideas, problems and solutions to both specialised and non-specialised audiences.
  9. Use the specific technical vocabulary and own interpretation of the required disciplines.

3.4.        Different manifestations of male chauvinistic violence: institutional violence, violence against LGTBIQ people, violence against children and adolescents

Methodology


The course will be developed from the reading commentaris and the student researches. Each week a compulsory reading will be discussed and there will be a group exhibition on a theme of the program. During the course the student's individual or grupal work will be divided into a research paper and an exam

Annotation: Within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.

Assessment

Evaluation

Final scores to be obtained from the following criteria:


1.1 Continuous evaluation of the lessons. (50% of the note). Dates of the evaluable activities and their content will be shown on the virtual campus before the start of the course.

Students are advised to attend classes on a continuous basis and carry out scheduled activities throughout the course (readings, comments on legislation, jurisprudence analysis, etc.)

1.2 Final exam (50% of note). It must be passed with a score higher than 5 to average the ratings of the continuous evaluation.

In the event of a student committing any irregularity that may lead to a significant variation in the grade awarded to an assessment activity, the student will be given a zero for this activity, regardless of any disciplinary process that may take place. In the event of several irregularities in assessment activities of the same subject, the student will be given a zero as the final grade for this subject

In the event that tests or exams cannot be taken onsite, they will be adapted to an online format made available through the UAB’s virtual tools (original weighting will be maintained). Homework, activities and class participation will be carried out through forums, wikis and/or discussion on Teams, etc. Lecturers will ensure that students are able to access these virtual tools, or will offer them feasible alternatives.

Grade review procedure.

At the moment of realization of each evaluation activity, the professor will inform the student (Moodle) of the procedure and the revision of the qualifications.
										
											Conditions for the qualification ‘Not appraisable’.
										
											The student re-qualifies as Non-Valuable as long as he / she has not completed i / o or more than 30% of the activities evaluated.
