Objectives and Contextualisation

Propaedeutic course. Introductory overview of Catalan literary movements throughout the 20th century and their relationship with current cultural movements. The training objective of this course is the acquisition of the skills to contextualize the great movements and currents of 20th century Catalan literature in the context of universal literary traditions. In addition, students will gain familiarity with the fundamental bibliography of the period and with the reading strategies that will allow them to elaborate a critical discourse.

Methodology

The subject is distributed in theoretical sessions and reading seminars that can be flipped classroom. The theoretical sessions have a panoramic and contextualizing character and include the commentary of criticism and theoretical texts. The reading sessions prepare the student for oral presentations. Tutorials are applied to follow up on written assignments.

The calendar will be available on the first day of class. Students will find all information on the Virtual Campus: the description of the activities, teaching materials, and any necessary information for the proper follow-up of the subject. In case of a change of teaching modality for health reasons, teachers will make readjustments in the schedule and methodologies.

Annotation: Within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.

Assessment

Activities

Two exercises-questionnaire, in the middle and at the end of the course, about theoretical aspects of the subject: 10%

Adequate participation in activities (comments, exhibitions): 10%

Oral presentation about a theoretical article of those proposed in the bibliography: 20%

Final written test of the studied contents: 40%

Group work about the relationship between Catalan literary movements and international movements (literary but also cultural and artistic in general): 20%



At the end of each evaluation activity information of the procedure and date of qualifications review will be provided (via Moodle).

The final grade of the evaluation is the average grade of each activity (0 for unperformed activities). In order to pass the course, a minimum overall grade of 5 must be obtained. Students will obtain a Not assessed/Not submitted course grade unless they have submitted more than 30% of the assessment items.

In the event of a student committing any irregularity that may lead to a significant variation in the grade awarded to an assessment activity, the student will be given a zero for this activity, regardless of any disciplinary process that may take place. In the event of several irregularities in assessment activities of the same subject, the student will be given a zero as the final grade for this subject.

In the event that tests or exams cannot be taken onsite, they will be adapted to an online format made available through the UAB’s virtual tools (original weighting will be maintained). Homework, activities and participation will be carried out through forums, wikis and/or discussion on Teams, etc. Lecturers will ensure that students are able to access these virtual tools, or will offer them feasible alternatives.

 

Recovery

 

In order to do the recovery the student must have been previously evaluated in a set of activities that amounts to at least two-thirds of the total qualification of the course.

Recovery can be done only if the overall grade is between 3.5 and 4.9. Recovery will be done with a final test and group work is excluded. The maximum reassessment grade is 5.
