Objectives and Contextualisation

Identify the Catalan morphological processes

Competences

  • Act with ethical responsibility and respect for fundamental rights, diversity and democratic values.
  • Analyse the phonetic, phonological, morphological, syntactic, lexical and semantic properties of the Catalan language, its evolution over time and its present structure.
  • Assess gender inequalities when acting in this field of knowledge.
  • Critically read and interpret texts.
  • Demonstrate a mastery of the rules of the Catalan language, its linguistic bases and all its application in the academic and professional fields.
  • Innovate in the methods and processes of this area of knowledge in response to the needs and wishes of society.
  • Interpret the political, social and cultural factors that affect the use of the Catalan language and its evolution over time and at the present day.
  • Produce written work and oral presentations that are effective and framed in the appropriate register.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Analyse linguistic structures.
  2. Analyse the most problematic phonetic, phonological, morphological, syntactic, lexical and semantic properties of the present-day language.
  3. Analyse the principles of lexical semantics that affect the internal structure of words and their syntactic combination.
  4. Apply the principles of correctness required in the standard language and the different registers and variants.
  5. Correctly identify linguistic units.
  6. Describe the combinatory processes for creating linguistic units.
  7. Determine register types on the basis of phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics.
  8. Distinguish between grammatical gender and natural gender.
  9. Gain a greater capacity for reading, interpreting and critically analysing literary and linguistic texts.
  10. Identify and describe the processes of inflection, derivation, composition and lexicalisation.
  11. Identify principal and secondary ideas and express them using correct language.
  12. Identify the contexts in which historical processes are immersed.
  13. Identify the origin of errors made by non-native speakers when using the language.
  14. Identify the pragmatic factors that condition the use of the various linguistic structures .
  15. Interpret texts in depth and provide standpoints from which to analyse them critically.
  16. Make appropriate use of the knowledge acquired in order to collect data and handle documentary sources in the study of Catalan language and literature.
  17. Match the known internal and external properties of the language to the different conditions of use.
  18. Produce normatively correct written and oral texts.
  19. Produce written work and oral presentations that are effective and framed in the appropriate register.
  20. Respect the opinions, values, behaviour and customs of others.
  21. Troubleshoot errors made by non-native speakers when using the language.
  22. Use technological resources (digital and audiovisual) to acquire knowledge and apply it in language and literature.
  23. Work self-sufficiently on the synchronic and diachronic study of Catalan language and literature.
  24. Write text commentaries from a critical standpoint.

Content

1. Morphological structure and lexicon

2. Inflexional categories. Nominal and verbal inflexion. Dialectal variation.

3. Cliticization. Restrictions and variation

4. Derivation: sufixes and prefixes. Límits between derivation and composition

5. Composition. Other processes of word formation.

Methodology

Directed activities (40%): explanation of the syllabus and discussion of problems

Supervised activities (30%): practices and problem resolutions

Autonomous activities (30%): study and specific text lecture

Les activitats dirigides assumeixen la metodologia de l'aprenentatge basat en problemes i consistiran en (i)pràctiques a l'aula de resolució de problemes, reforçar els coneixements teòrics i desenvolupar la capacitat d'anàlisi (ii) pràctiques fetes fora de l'aula, que en alguns casos, s'hauran de lliurar.

Els errors de normativa penalitzaran en la forma que s'estableixi per a cada activitat.

El calendari detallat amb el contingut de les diferents sessions s’exposarà el dia de presentació de l’assignatura. Es penjarà també al Campus Virtual on l’alumnat podrà trobar la descripció detallada dels exercicis i pràctiques, els diversos materials docents i qualsevol informació necessària per a l’adequat seguiment de l’assignatura. En cas de canvi de modalitat docent per raons sanitàries, el professorat informarà dels canvis que es produiran en la programació de l’assignatura i en les metodologies docents.

En cas que l’estudiant realitzi qualsevol irregularitat que pugui conduir a una variació significativa de la qualificació d’un acte d’avaluació, es qualificarà amb 0 aquest acte d’avaluació, amb independència del procés disciplinari que s’hi pugui  instruir. Si es produeixen diverses irregularitats en els actes, la qualificació final d’aquest assignatura serà zero.

En cas que les proves no es puguin fer presencialment s’adaptarà el seu format (mantenint-ne la ponderació) a les possibilitats que ofereixen les eines virtuals de la UAB. Els deures, activitats i participació a classe es realitzaran a través de fòrums, wikis i/o discussions d’exercicis a través de Teams, assegurant que tot l’estudiantat hi pot accedir.

La nota final de l'assignatura serà la suma (ponderada) de les puntuacions obtingudes en cada activitat. Després decada prova, hi haurà sempre un procediment de revisió del resultat. El calendari de les proves s'anunciarà acomençament de curs. L'assignatura serà "no avaluable" quan no s'hagi fet la prova final. Només tindran accés a la reavaluació els estudiantsque hagin obtingut com a mínim un 3,5 de la nota global i hagin estat avaluats en un mínim de 2/3 parts de laqualificació de l'assignatura. Només es podrà recuperar l'examen final i la nota màxima serà 5. Els errors de normativa penalitzaran en la forma que s'estableixi per a cada activitat.
